Mail-only ZIP codes

Mail-only ZIP codes around Fort Lauderdale

The old site had a page for every ZIP from 33301 to 33394. Twenty-one of them do not cover streets at all: they belong to post office boxes or to a single large address. Rather than pretend otherwise, they share this one page. Here is the list, and what it means when you call.

01 Mail-only ZIPs

Why your mailing ZIP may not be your street ZIP

The ZIPs on this page are 33302, 33303, 33307, 33310, 33318, 33320, 33329, 33335, 33336, 33337, 33338, 33339, 33340, 33345, 33346, 33348, 33349, 33355, 33359, 33388, 33394. Mail sent to them goes to a box at a post office or to one organization's mail room. Nobody lives at a P.O. box, so a locksmith cannot be sent to one. When you call, give the street address of the door or car, and the ZIP for that street.

If you are not sure which ZIP your street is in, the address on a utility bill or your driver's license usually shows it. The site map lists every street ZIP with its own page, from downtown 33301 to the ranch roads of 33332.

One common mix-up deserves a plain answer. If you lost the key to a P.O. box itself, a locksmith is the wrong call. Those locks belong to the Postal Service, and the post office that holds the box replaces the key or the lock, usually for a fee and with ID.

Which ZIP to give when you call

When you call, use the ZIP printed on the street sign or your property tax bill, not the one on your mail. If the street ZIP has its own page, it is listed on the site map. Some businesses receive mail at a box but operate from an office park in 33309 or a suite downtown in 33301; the visit goes to the suite. If in doubt, give the nearest cross streets. The call desk can work out the rest, and the contractor who takes the job will confirm the address before setting out.

What people with a mail-only ZIP call about

  • Lost keys to a P.O. box (that is a post office job, not a locksmith one)

  • Rekeying after a move when the mailing address stayed the same
  • Finding the right street ZIP before booking a visit

03 Questions

Mail-only ZIP questions

Can a locksmith replace my P.O. box key?

No. The post office controls those locks. Take ID to the counter where the box is held.

My business uses a building ZIP. What do I give the call desk?

The street address of the building and the suite number. That is where the locksmith goes.

Why do these ZIPs not have their own pages?

Writing a separate page for a ZIP nobody lives in would be filler. One honest page is more useful.

What about a lockbox or a parcel locker at my building?

Building parcel lockers belong to the property or their vendor. Ask management before calling a locksmith.

04 Pricing

How the price is set

Every job starts from the published price list. The contractor who takes the call looks at the lock, confirms the final figure and only then starts. Ask for ID and a written estimate, and mention any coupon up front.
